3. The Reason Why I choose this Article:

I have chosen this article because it contains important news about the differences language in the world. Every nations or country have different kind of languages, is a kind of human culture, explain how the loss of language is much like the loss of species.

4. The explanation what the article is about:

This article tells us about the development and extinction of languages. One of language becomes bigger and others are endangered. Languages seem to be converging to a smaller number, as languages like English seem to eat up regional ones. The three languages used the most by first language today are Mandarin Chinese, English, and Spanish. English is being used more and more as the main language for business, science, and popular culture.

When a language is lost, meaning no living person can teach another and a world perspective is lost because there are some foreign language expressions simply cannot be translated. These various views of the world are essential for science to help create new ways of understanding and connections between the human and the natural world.

5. Writer’s Message in writing this Article:

The author wants to tell us that languages are much like living creatures that become endangered when numbers dwindle. And, for many linguists, preserving endangered language is vital, a loss in global languages means a loss of the diverse ideas and cultures those language once held.

6. My personal Comment:

I think it is a nice article because from this we know about the development of language around the world. Each language has their own uniqueness and expressed their culture.

1. Title of the Article             : Wanted: Mars…Dead or Alive?

2. Author                                : Geoffrey A. Landis.

3. The Reason Why I choose this Article:

            I’ve chosen this article because I am curious if there are any alive in mars or not. And how was the condition of planet mars actually? Can mars become the second earth as the place of alive? I need to know all the information about it.

4. The explanation what the article is about:

            This article is about whether any alive or not in mars according to the fact that mars is bitterly cold and dry planet, held no trace of life-not even microscopic plants-and appeared to have no water.

            The news was shocking, for up until the mariner pictures, scientists had thought that mars was a planet lot like earth, only somewhat colder. A revealed by mariner and its later cousins, mars is a planet of stunning superlatives. Its great volcano, Olympus Mons, reaches up almost 25km above sea level. Further evidence supporting the theory that mars once had water recently came from the mars global surveyor. The craft has mapped the altitude of the red planet’s surface, which shows that a large area in its northern hemisphere is very low compared to the rest of the planet. Some scientists think that the low area is the basin of the ancient ocean that once existed on mars. However, others scientist disagree and think that there is not enough evidence to be certain.

5. Writer’s Message in writing this Article:

            The author want to tell us that possible mars can be placed  is if  there is water on mars, but the question whether life exist on mars or not will only be answered for sure when human astronauts venture onto its surface. This question might finally be answered in the first quarter of the twenty-first century.

6. My personal Comment:

            For me, I guess that mars can’t be placed as alive because until now there aren’t proof showing that. And mars doesn’t have many kinds of plant and animal like the earth.
